Erik Matti will direct the Filipino episode of HBO Asia’s original horror anthology series “Folklore,” WarnerMedia announced Tuesday.

According to a press release, Folklore season 2 will be a seven-part, one-hour series that will take place in seven Asian countries, namely Thailand, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Taiwan.

WarnerMedia said that each episode will be directed by a local director from each country, and that Direk Erik will bring the Pinoy brand to the spotlight.

The statement said that Direk Erik is among the select directors “who will increase the fear factor as Folklore examines the human condition when exposed to supernatural powers in a mind-blowing race against oneself, each story bringing a different perspective and perspective.”

Other Asian directors who brought their country’s horror cultures into the show’s second season include Sittisiri Mongkolsiri from Thailand, Shih-Han Liao from Taiwan, Billy Christian from Indonesia, Nicole Midori Woodford from Singapore, and Bradley Liew from Malaysia. Pop singer-songwriter Seiko Matsuda will make her directorial debut on the Japan episode.

The statement said principal photography for the series will begin early next year.

“Folklore Season 2” promises to bring “a different kind of horror based on local superstitions and myths from six different countries in Asia,” the statement said.

Direk Erik is the man behind Philippine horror masterpieces like “Seklusyon”, “Kuwaresma”, “Vesuvius” and the “Chronicles of Aswang”.
