Terrafirma Dyip defeated Blackwater Elite, 110-101 on Friday morning, their first victory in the PBA Season 45 Philippine Cup at the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) Sports and Cultural Center in Angeles, Pampanga.

Sophomore CJ Perez scattered 27 points on 9 of 16 shots from the field to lead Dyip to their first win after eight games.

Dyip are keeping their quarterfinal hopes alive in the PBA bubble with three games remaining in the round robin elimination.

Roosevelt Adams had a career-high 20 points and 16 rebounds, while Juami Tiongson contributed 19 points, including a key triple in the reward period that helped seal Dyip’s win.

JP Calvo and Eric Camson also finished in double figures for the Dyip with 11 points each, respectively.

Veteran forward KG Canaleta finished with 29 points in a losing effort for Blackwater, who absorbed their fifth straight loss with a 1-6 record.

Terrafirma coach Johnedel Cardel said he ordered his players to advance in the second half as they always lose strength in the second half, especially in the third quarter.

He added that the team was determined not to go home without winning.

The Philippine Cup will rest on the quadruple and triple titles with just two games scheduled for Saturday.

Painters from Rain or Shine Elasto (4-3) battle Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok (4-4) in the main game at 6:45 p.m. while TNT Tropang Giga will play back-to-back games as they take on the Meralco Bolts (5 -3) at 4 pm

The Elasto Painters are looking to bounce back after losing to the Meralco Bolts, 78-85, on Thursday. After a solid 4-1 start, Rain or Shine lost two of their last games, falling to sixth place in the team’s standings.

Magnolia, meanwhile, will try to maintain its winning momentum after beating Terrafirma, 103-89, on November 5.

As of this writing, TNT is battling Barangay Ginebra San Miguel for the number one spot.

Tropang Giga will have less than 24 hours of rest before returning to the court today against the Bolts. Meralco had a two-day break before the game and would probably take advantage of his opponent’s fatigue.

Meralco’s Chris Newsome, Baser Amer and Reynel Hugnatan showed their excellent form in their last outing with a combined 44-point start.
