Duterte wishes speedy recovery for resigned Japanese Prime Minister Abe

MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday expressed sadness over the recent resignation of Japanese Prime Minister Abe Shinzo due to health problems.

“I am very sorry to have heard of Prime Minister Abe Shinzo’s resignation. Throughout the many years of our commitment, I have seen a leader with a bold vision and a strong determination to do what is best for his country and our region, ”Duterte said in a statement.

Duterte hopes for a speedy and full recovery from Abe. She added that bilateral relations between Japan and the Philippines flourished under Abe’s leadership.

“He is for me and for the Filipino people, a true friend closer than a brother. To Prime Minister Abe, I pray for his speedy and full recovery, ”Duterte said.

The president praised the “goodness and strength of character” of the Japanese leader.

Abe, 65, revealed his resignation during a press conference on Friday. You have been battling ulcerative colitis for years.
