MANILA, Philippines – Let President Rodrigo Duterte say what he wants to say.
This is what Malacañang said when asked to comment on the president’s comment that he called the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) “mukhang pera” (greedy).
“Let na lang, the president, say what he wants to say. For that to be recorded, bahala na po ang (it’s up to the) People’s Republic of China to interpret what the president said, ”presidential spokesman Harry Roque said in a televised briefing on Friday.
Duterte made the comment after Health Secretary Francisco Duque III reported that the suspension of swab testing by the People’s Republic of China resulted in a decline in COVID-19 reports from the country.
The President of the People’s Republic of China, Senator Richard Gordon, responded to Duterte, saying the president should avoid his impulsive remarks and denied that the humanitarian organization was being greedy.
The People’s Republic of China previously halted COVID-19 testing for the government after the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) failed to settle some P930 million it owed from previous testing.
