President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the reorganization of the regional offices of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), the Customs Office (BoC) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to rid these agencies of corruption.

In his evening public address Monday, Duterte issued the directive to Customs Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero and newly appointed PhilHealth President and CEO Dante Gierran, who attended the weekly meeting of the Interagency Task Force on Infectious Disease Management. Monday. .

“I called Jagger, si Guerrero dito, commissioner, sabi ko sa kanya (I told him), ‘I want to see a reorganization of the different regional offices in the next two or three days. That applies to the NBI pati PhilHealth, ‘”he added.

Duterte said that those who refuse to relinquish their positions despite being linked to corruption issues should inform him directly.

The president particularly cited PhilHealth’s regional vice presidents, whom he said should be removed from their posts.

“Eliminate all the regional vice presidents, whether they perform on par or on par with the other good guys. Do you know if they [have been] there for so long, the element of familiarity always comes into play, ”Duterte instructed Gierran.

The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee previously recommended the immediate dismissal of all PhilHealth regional directors, claiming that some were behind the “mob” carrying out fraudulent schemes at the agency.

Gierran replaced PhilHealth director Ricardo Morales, who resigned after Duterte asked him to resign due to his medical condition.
