MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday revealed the names of lawmakers included in the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) list of government officials allegedly involved in acts of corruption.
Before reading their names, the president noted that inclusion on the list does not mean that there is strong evidence against them.
“The public must be aware that there is no hard evidence, that it cannot be translated just by reading the names that are already guilty because the presumption of innocence would want everything until conviction or acquittal,” Duterte said in a prerecorded speech.
“I just want to assure everyone that yung pagbasa sa pangalan ninyo is a condemnation or accusation that you are guilty of something … Don’t take it as the truth of the gospel,” he continued.
Appointed by the president are the following legislators who are allegedly involved in corruption:
Occidental Mindoro Rep. Josephine Sato
Former Representative of Ifugao Teodoro Baguilat
Quezon City Representative Alfred Vargas
Misamis Occidental Rep. Henry Oaminal
Representative of Samar del Norte Paul Daza
Representative of the Quezon province Angelina Helen Tan
ACT-CIS Representative Eric Yap
Bataan Representative Geraldine Roman
