President Rodrigo Duterte and actress Angel Locsin topped the list of “most admired” men and women in the Philippines in 2020.
This is the second year that the two have ranked first together on YouGov’s “World’s Most Admired” list.
Duterte received an “admiration score” of 19.67%, while Darna’s star has a score of 15.03%, according to YouGov’s Sept. 23 report.
Among the most admired Filipinos are second and third ranked Catriona Gray and Sarah Geronimo, Liza Soberano, sixth, Marian Rivera, tenth, and Vice President Leni Robredo, fifteenth.
Among the international female personalities admired by Filipinos are Taylor Swift, Angelina Jolie, Emma Watson, Oprah Winfrey and Queen Elizabeth II.
On the men’s list, the only other Filipinos to make it are Senator Manny Pacquiao and Manila Mayor Isko Moreno. The foreign men Filipinos admire are Jackie Chan, Pope Francis, Bill Gates, Keanu Reeves, Barack Obama, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Barack and Michelle Obama are the most admired man and woman in the world, and Barack surpassed Bill Gates from the top spot last year. In the Philippines, Barack ranks as the eighth most admired man, while Michelle ranks eleventh.
YouGov, a UK market research and data analysis firm, conducted online surveys in 42 areas from January to March this year to collect nominations that answer the question: “Thinking about the living people of the world from today [man or woman] what else do you admire? Then lists of 20 men and women were compiled based on the nominations.
The lists were used to survey people in the 42 areas from May to September, who answered the questions “Who do you really admire?” And “Who do you admire the most?” The first question allowed multiple selections, while the second required the selection of a single person.
YouGov said in its report: “By asking respondents two questions, we can understand both the breadth (ie, global reach) and the intensity of a person’s support.” /outside
