It seems that IceFrog and the dota 2 The Valve team is keeping an eye on the game’s competitive scene even during the coronavirus pandemic, as a small quick update has changed the game in many ways.
Gameplay Update 7.26 does not focus on heroes, elements, or any other core elements of the normal game, but instead introduces some systematic changes to prepare for future patches to be released soon.
While this might be the smallest full numbered patch in the history of the game, it seems the developers’ goal right now is to slow down the game. It seems Valve is making these changes to see what will break the game up into small doses rather than overwhelming the community with massive changes at once.
- Attributes no longer provide magic resistance, spell amplification, and movement speed for strength, intelligence, and agility, respectively.
- Gold rewards are reduced by 10 percent (affects buildings, lane creeps, neutrals, and heroes)
- Gold kill streak reduced by 50 percent
Downsizing gold is going to hit farm heroes hard, which is probably the main reason Valve openly said these changes will need to be resolved before the follow-up hero and article-specific tweaks are released.
This is likely not a direct reaction to all the less than 25-minute games going on in the professional scene, but this should at least prolong some of the games over the next week or so only by lowering the value net. The nerf attribute also looks like it might affect the INT and STR heroes in some negative way, but it will take a while to see the overall impact.
