MANILA, Philippines – The total number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines soared to 363,888 after 1,664 new infections were recorded, according to the latest data released Thursday by the Department of Health (DOH).
Of the total cases, 44,772 are considered active cases, of which 83.6 percent are mild, 11.2 percent are asymptomatic, 3.3 percent are critical and 1.9 percent are severe cases. .
Cavite was identified as having the highest number of new cases with 81 infections. Next are the cities of Malabon and Davao, both with 76 cases. It is closely followed by the city of Iloilo with 75 cases and the city of Quezon with 65 cases.
The latest DOH data also reported 843 new recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 312,333.
Meanwhile, the death toll from COVID-19 in the country also rose to 6,783 after 38 new deaths were recorded.
DOH noted that it had removed 19 duplicates from the total case count. Of the duplicates, five were recoveries and two were deaths.
Additionally, there were also 11 cases that were previously labeled as recoveries but reclassified as deaths after final validation.
