MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) confirmed 18 new cases of variant B.1.1.7 of the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) that originated in the United Kingdom on Sunday, raising the total count from the Philippines to 62.

The DOH said the latest cases were part of the seventh batch of 757 samples sequenced by the University of the Philippines-Philippine Genome Center (UP-PGC) on February 18.
