DOH Calls Labs About Overdue Reports; PHL Covid-19 infections reach 237,365

HIGHLIGHTING the need to ensure more accurate case collection, validation and reporting, the Department of Health (DOH) has drawn the attention of 19 laboratories that did not submit their data on Sunday to the Covid-19 Data Repository System (CDRS).

In its Covid-19 case bulletin at 4 p.m. on September 6, where the total number of infections in the country rose to 237,365, the DOH noted that only 96 of 115 current operating laboratories have submitted their data. A total of 2,839 confirmed cases were registered.

Meanwhile, DOH reported a total of 23,074 recoveries as part of the agency’s “Oplan Recovery”. This brings the total number of recoveries to 184,687.

The Oplan Recovery “based on time and symptoms” is an initiative that DOH activated to monitor the status of confirmed deaths and recoveries from Covid-19. It marks a patient as recovered when certain conditions are met, even without repeating the RT-PCR test and is recommended by the Philippine College of Physicians and the Philippine Society of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases.

The main regions with cases in the last two weeks were the National Capital Region (NCR) with 894 or 39 percent, Region 4A (594 or 26 percent) and Region 6 (225 or 10 percent).

85 deaths were recorded. The death toll stood at 3,875.
