MANILA, Philippines – Foreign Secretary Teddy Boy Locsin Jr. defended actress Angel Locsin, who was mentioned in Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr.’s controversial statement against celebrities on Saturday.
“Angel Locsin has done more with his life for others than anyone I know in his situation. Nobody [who] messes with her will get it. I am not allowed to threaten on Twitter, ”wrote the country’s top diplomat in a tweet.
Parlade received criticism from netizens and lawmakers after she made several controversial comments about Catriona Gray and Liza Soberano about their defense of women’s and children’s rights in online forums on the Gabriela Women’s party list. Parlade said critics should not “cross out” Sovereign, as he is not a member of the New People’s Army (NPA).
