SM shopping malls in Luzon provide temporary shelter and relief support to more than 400 stranded people and other nearby residents affected by Typhoon Ulysses. Immediate assistance, such as free WiFi, charging stations and a help desk, is available to everyone. The overnight parking charges were dropped on November 11.
“We have prepared in advance of Typhoon Ulysses to ensure the safety of the communities we serve. Our shopping centers in Luzon will be open to those in need of shelter and we will also provide immediate relief assistance to affected residents, ”said SM Supermalls President Steven Tan.
The watersheds of SM City Cabanatuan, SM City San Mateo and SM City Masinag are also operational to reduce flooding in neighboring communities. SM Marikina, on the other hand, is a shopping mall built on stilts, allowing flood water to flow through your basement and prevent damage to the structure. More than 20 SM shopping malls in flood-prone areas equipped with catchment basins that keep malls flood-free.
SM Foundation is prepared to extend relief assistance through its Operation Tulong Express program in close coordination with local officials in affected barangays and DSWD. This is in addition to ongoing relief efforts for victims affected by Typhoon Rolly in Bicol.
The SM shopping centers in Metro Manila and Luzon are open today, November 12, except SM City Marilao which remains closed due to flooding in the area.
