MANILA, Philippines – Light to moderate and sometimes heavy rains are still expected in parts of the Philippines on Monday, a day after powerful Typhoon Rolly devastated the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration ( Pay).
According to the Pagasa 2 am bulletin, rains may fall on the Ilocos region, the Cordillera administrative region, the Cagayan valley and central Luzon.
A strong breeze can also be expected that can reach conditions close to gales with occasional gusts over the northwestern part of Occidental Mindoro, the western part of Batangas, the extreme western part of Laguna, Cavite, Metro Manila, the western part of Bulacan, the western part part of Pampanga, Bataan and the southern part of Zambales.
The same wind conditions are expected in Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the northern portions of Cagayan and Zambales.
Pagasa also warned of rough to very rough seas, with waves ranging from 2.5 to 5.0 meters over the northern shores of Luzon and central Luzon, the western shores of Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, including Burias Island and the islands Calamian, and the eastern coastlines of Quezon, including the Polillo Islands and the Bicol Region.
Meanwhile, 1.2 to 2.5 meter waves will be experienced over the western shores of Palawan, including the Kalayaan Islands and the eastern shores of Visayas and Mindanao.
Pagasa has warned small boat boaters to take precautionary measures.
“Inexperienced sailors should avoid sailing in these conditions,” Pagasa added.
At 1 am, Tropical Storm Rolly was located 155 kilometers west of Sangley Point in Cavite or 95 kilometers west southwest of Subic Bay.
It had maximum sustained winds of 75 km / h near the center with a gust reaching 90 km / h while moving west-northwest at 20 km / h.
