The COVID-19 pandemic, the shutdown of ABS-CBN, and all the other curveballs thrown at us this year make Daniel Padilla think that he has truly entered the “adult stage.”
“Sorry, especially now that we are locked up, I’m getting old!” The 25-year-old star said in a recent video conference for his virtual concert, “Apollo: A Daniel Padilla Digital Experience,” which will air today on the online content service KTX.ph.
“The responsibilities are increasing. The bills, which my mother (Karla Estrada) used to handle, I take care of now. We are in charge of everything now, ”he said.
And from the hand of “adulthood” there are conversations about their future.
Despite the challenges, Daniel said he is determined to keep working hard, so he can save for his future family. “You have to be prepared, so you’re not always chasing the job and juggling all kinds of things; so you can feel calm and still have time for your family, “he said.
Speaking of the future family, Daniel reiterated what he had said in his previous interviews that he would like to get married on the beach, and preferably, before 30.
“Maybe in three or four years, as long as it’s before 30. I don’t want to wait until I get to that age range, because once you’re there, time will go even faster … So, I hope everything is okay … sailing by then, ”said Daniel, who has been in a relationship with Kathryn Bernardo for eight years.
Would he also want to start a family so soon? “We’ll try!” he joked, laughing. “But seriously, if our situation is fine, why wait? At least you won’t be too old and you will continue to play with your children. “
Although during the interview he seemed to be calm and relaxed during the interview, Daniel admitted that it has not always been this way this year. It is important, he emphasized, to keep our mental health in check.
“I know the feeling. At the beginning of the pandemic, he was mentally stressed. He was not used to the situation. What are we going to do? There is a pandemic in progress. ABS-CBN was having problems. It seemed that negative things were taking over, ”he told the Inquirer.
“So what I did was look at what things I should focus on, things I can do to take care of myself and things that can inspire and help people,” added Daniel, who has been actively involved in different relief efforts for those affected by the pandemic and their fellow Kapamilyas who lost their jobs. “I felt that we should counter negativity with positivity.”
In times of difficulty, Daniel said he and Kathryn draw strength from their families.
“Yes, you can talk to your friends. But when you are at home and need someone to turn to who is always there for you? Who are the people closest to you? “He said, adding that he has been taking advantage of his free time by strengthening even more the bond with his loved ones.” You have the opportunity to be with your family and do all the things that you could not do before. You have the opportunity to revisit your times. happy and reflect on how much you’ve grown. “
While he may choose to look for work at other stations, Daniel is choosing to wait for ABS-CBN to rebuild. In fact, in a meeting with the heads of the network, he and Kathryn asked: What can we do to help?
“We owe a great debt of gratitude to ABS-CBN. Personally, my life took a 180 degree turn: nag-iba talaga. My family can sleep more, soundly, thanks to the projects they have given me, in which I also worked a lot. It’s a give and take, ”he said. “I can wait until ABS-CBN recovers and gets back up, because I believe in that. Now I’m with them (fellow artists and employees who lost their jobs), waiting. “
ABS-CBN recently announced that some of its shows will soon debut on the free-to-air channel Zoe TV 11, which has been rebranded A2Z.
“That’s good. Let’s keep working to keep ABS-CBN alive. They trusted us; it’s the least I can do for them,” said Daniel, who is keen to do a new soap opera for A2Z, after he and Kathryn broke up. with his Star Cinema digital series “The House Arrest of Us”.
“Apollo” is Daniel’s first big show since “D4” in 2018 (visit www.facebook.com/starmusicph for more information). Along with him this time is José Carlito’s band, which is led by his brother JC Padilla. “I look forward to encouraging the people as they continue to fight and recover from the pandemic and the shutdown,” he added.
The repertoire, as always, will be a mix of pop, rock and roll, jazz standards, new wave, and many more genres.
“This is different because there won’t be a live audience to draw energy from,” he said. “It’s going to be relaxed; nothing great. It’s like we are improvising at home. ”
If there is a song that encapsulates your thoughts and feelings right now, it would be “One” by U2.
“It goes perfectly with what is happening now. We cannot be so divided that we end up losing sight of the issues that need to be addressed and the things we are fighting for, ”he said. “Let’s use what we have to inspire and help other people.”
