Dana White takes a chance at Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul exhibition boxing match

Over the weekend, it was announced that Floyd Mayweather would be coming out of retirement to face boxer-turned-YouTube sensation Logan Paul on February 20, 2021 in what has been dubbed a “super show” fight.

Yes really.

Naturally, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) president Dana White was asked about the news and for his thoughts on where the sport of boxing stands at the moment. For White, reserves like Mayweather vs. Paul is all he needs to know as to where boxing is at right now.

“When people ask me, ‘What’s the state of boxing right now?’ That’s where it is, ”White said in an interview with the Nelk Boys (via MMA Junkie). “Didn’t the (expletive) boy from the video games from England hit that kid, and now he’s going to fight Floyd Mayweather?”

Logan and his younger brother, Jake Paul, transitioned into the boxing world a couple of years ago and have conquered the sport, for better or worse. Jake knocked out former NBA player Nate Robinson at the recent Tyson vs. Jones just over a week ago.

Meanwhile, Logan made his “professional” debut against YouTube sensation KSI last November, losing by unanimous decision.

Of course, White has plans to enter the boxing business himself with ZUFFA Boxing, but that company has yet to take off. Whether he complies or not, don’t expect him and his partners to book “super show” bouts like this one.

Or “old things” like this.
