COVID-19 patients, flood-prone NCR treatment facility staff moved to hotels

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) said Thursday that more than 200 coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients and temporary treatment and monitoring facility (TTMF) staff members in flood-prone areas have been transferred to various hotels as Typhoon Ulysses strikes parts of Luzon.

In its status report, DOH said that with the help of the COVID-19 team Oplan Kalinga, patients and staff from the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, the Rizal Memorial Coliseum, the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, and the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) they were transferred to hotels. :

  • 36 patients and 26 employees of the Ninoy Aquino Stadium TTMF transferred to the Nice Hotel Mandaluyong
  • 41 patients and 26 employees of the Rizal Memorial Stadium TTMFt transferred to the Nice Hotel Arayat
  • 41 patients and 15 employees of the Philippine Arena TTMF transferred to the Nice Hotel McArthur
  • 28 patients and 32 PICC TTMF staff members transferred to Nice Hotel North Edsa

DOH added that the Centers for Health Development (CHD) located in the included areas on the Ulysses Trail have P26 million worth of COVID-19 drugs, medical supplies, health kits and other supplies.

Health emergency response teams are also on alert for deployment, DOH said.

According to the latest Pagasa weather bulletin, Ulises was last seen 85 kilometers west of Iba, Zambales, with maximum sustained winds of 130 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 200 kph, while moving at 25 kph.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 was hoisted over western Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac and Pampanga, Pagasa said.

Meanwhile, other parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, were placed under TCWS No. 2.
