MANILA, Philippines – The total number of Filipinos abroad who fell ill from Covid-19 approached the 13,500 mark after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported an additional 120 cases Thursday.
The new infections, which were reported in the Middle East and Africa, brought total cases among Filipinos abroad to 13,498, according to the DFA.
Of the number, 3,987 are still in treatment, DFA data showed.
“The reported increase is due to late reports due to privacy concerns in one country in that region,” the department said.
No new recoveries or deaths were recorded. The number of recovered patients remains at 8,585, while the cases of death were 935.
In the Philippines, 494,605 cases have so far been recorded, including 25,614 “active” patients, 459,252 survivors and 9,739 deaths.
