Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 5) – The country’s coronavirus count approached 390,000 on Thursday as the Health Department reported 1,594 more people were infected.

The national count is now 389,725, of which 32,773 or 8.4 percent are currently ill patients.

Ten testing labs did not submit their reports on time and were not yet included in the updated tally, the DOH said.

The most recent case report listed the city of Manila as the largest contributing area nationally in terms of new cases after registering 253 most infected residents. Cavite followed with 126, Davao City and Rizal province with 78 each, and Quezon City with 73.

The department added that 468 more patients have beaten the virus, bringing the recovery count to 349,543. This represents almost 90 percent of all cases.

However, there were 42 new deaths, bringing the death toll to 7,409.

The DOH said it removed six duplicates from the overall count and reclassified as deaths 14 cases wrongly reported as recoveries.

On Wednesday, he said the public could expect a decrease in new cases reported daily due to the effects of Typhoon Rolly, which cut off power and damaged facilities in various areas of Luzon over the weekend. He said comparatively low numbers can be seen in the coming days, but cautioned that this may be followed by a relative increase in subsequent reports.

The Department of Foreign Relations also confirmed 30 new infections and seven more recoveries among Filipinos abroad.

Their data showed that a total of 11,410 Filipinos abroad have so far been affected by the viral disease, including 7,364 who recovered and 828 who died.

Approximately 48.1 million people worldwide have been diagnosed with COVID-19, according to the Johns Hopkins University Tracker.

The global death toll has exceeded 1.2 million, while the recovery count is approaching 32 million.
