COVID-19 Cases in PH Approaching 460,000 Mark

MANILA, Philippines – Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the Philippines are approaching the 460,000 mark after the Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,754 new cases Sunday.

In its December 20 bulletin, the DOH said that the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country is now 459,789, of which 21,708 are considered active.

The DOH also reported 8,080 new recoveries, bringing the total to 429,134, while the death toll is now 8,947 after 36 more people succumbed to the disease.

Of the recently reported cases, DOH said 163 are from Quezon City, 104 are from Rizal, 83 are from Benguet, 83 are from Laguna, and 61 are from Bulacan.

Globally, coronavirus infections topped the 75 million mark on Saturday, according to a Reuters tally.
