Another 105 patients have died in Birmingham and Black Country hospitals after testing positive for Covid-19, bringing the region’s death toll to 3,185 since the pandemic began.
Seven deaths were recorded at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Queen Elizabeth, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals, bringing the death toll to 1,195.
Two deaths were recorded at Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs Sandwell General and City Hospitals, where the death toll rose to 485.
One death was reported at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, which includes New Cross and Cannock Chase Hospitals.
No new deaths were reported at the Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs Walsall Manor Hospital, or at the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital.
Four other deaths occurred at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the County Hospital in Stafford and the Royal Stoke University Hospital.
Another death was recorded at the Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in Staffordshire.
An NHS England spokesperson said: “Another 132 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed deaths reported in hospitals in England to 36,322.
“The patients were between 45 and 100 years old. All but one (aged 69) had known underlying health problems.”
