The Department of Health (DOH) reported 1,202 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, less than 1,500 for the second day, as tests remained below 20,000 per day.
As of 4 p.m. Wednesday, the total case count in the Philippines was 422,915, including 27,745 active cases, referring to coronavirus-positive people still in hospitals or in quarantine.
Tests conducted on Nov. 24 reached just 18,804, down from 20,000 for the third day. Of the total tests, 995 or 5.3 percent gave positive results.
The DOH case report also showed an additional 31 deaths, bringing the death toll from the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) to 8,215. The fatality rate remained at 1.94 percent.
There were 183 additional recoveries, bringing the total to 386,955.
Among the cities and provinces with the highest number of new infections, Davao City topped the list again with 137, followed by Quezon City with 68, Batangas with 59, Laguna with 54 and Cavite with 47.
On November 24, the DOH reported 1,118 cases, the lowest in the past 20 days. Only 16,225 tests were performed the day before, the DOH bulletin showed. (Marites Villamor-Ilano / SunStar Philippines)
