Converge ICT, Nokia aims to connect 300,000 customers in Mindanao

Internet provider FIBER Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. and multinational telecommunications firm Nokia Corp. expect to connect more than 300,000 customers in Mindanao to their “ultra-broadband” services over the next three years.

“Converge ICT will bring ultra-broadband services to the island of Mindanao through the deployment of Nokia’s fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solution,” Nokia said in an emailed statement Monday.

He added: “With this implementation, Converge ICT will expand its broadband network coverage to the region by connecting more than 300,000 homes and businesses to ultra-fast, affordable and reliable broadband services over the next three years.”

Converge ICT currently operates an end-to-end high-speed fiber network in the country with more than 30,000 kilometers in length.

The company is working to expand its national backbone from Luzon to the Visayas and Mindanao islands.

Converge ICT recently submitted a request to the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of 35.92 billion pesos.
