As a summary, I said that the International Standards Organization or ISO prescribes that “online reviews are increasingly influencing consumer purchasing decisions, it is vital for both consumers and providers that sites are managed effectively to build confidence in the quality, integrity, and accuracy and transparency of reviews. ”
In addition, I explained that “ISO standards provide requirements to organizations that manage consumer review sites, detailing good practices throughout the process, from collection to moderation to publication. Provides recommendations to increase consumer confidence in online consumer reviews, increase provider protection against exploitation and mischief, and improve consumer purchasing decisions and the quality of products and services provided by companies. organizations “.
At the national level, our group, Laban Konsyumer Inc., has analyzed a 3rdOnline review match that currently exists in the country. It is a startup group that aims to create a fraud free online marketplace in the Philippines. It describes itself as a third-party accreditation platform that serves to legitimize online marketers, and it launched its website this year as an effort to combat the steady increase in fraudulent transactions online.
Offers a more secure e-commerce experience through its credential verification system. Verified sellers earn badges certifying their legitimacy and are listed in the site’s seller directory. This service helps promote legitimate online sellers by providing them with added brand value and distinguishing themselves from fraudulent online sellers. Consumers who buy from sellers with the badges gain more confidence in the security of their transactions. This entrepreneur and others like him chose to strengthen their online businesses in response to the current pandemic.
Consumers should be better acquainted with professional and third-party e-commerce sites that provide unbiased reviews of online sales platforms in the Philippines, which consumers can understand and guide in their online shopping. I believe this practice will help build consumer confidence in online sales platforms.
I believe such controls and platforms would be beneficial to the Filipino consumer if properly executed and implemented. The marketplace needs to spend more time and effort for us to be able to meet ISO standards in terms of online customer reviews, and thus help build that sense of trust in the Filipino consumer to transact online.
One of the questions posed in the meeting room during the World Economic Forum virtual dialogue held on December 1, 2020, where I spoke about Maintaining and increasing trust in e-commerce platforms, was “what collaborative actions can help reassure to consumers about data processing and transfer in the new digital age “.
In this space, I have suggested a way. I believe that public and private companies should initiate efforts to foster and increase the capacity and reliability of companies, such as online rating platforms. By improving and strengthening your credibility when reviewing and vetting online sellers, you will help build consumer confidence in the online sellers who pass your review. When such trust is gained, I believe that consumer concerns regarding data flow will diminish accordingly. I can imagine that online market reviews still have room to grow as a tool that the consumer can use to allay their concerns about data flow, but given the right environment, it may be the right step in the goal of building trust in the consumer.
