Cone insists TNT ‘dominated’ first two games against Geneva

DESPITE holding a 2-0 lead, Barangay Geneva coach Tim Cone remains cautious about what TNT can accomplish with its back against the wall.

The Kings turned the tables just in time and escaped with a 92-90 victory over Tropang Giga after overcoming a 15-point deficit in what was supposed to be a tied series that has turned into a dominant advantage.

Cone, however, is not resting on his laurels as, from his point of view, TNT was in control of the first two games of the series.

“We are grateful to win, but we didn’t play well and, just like in Game One, I felt like we could have played a lot better in Game One,” Cone said. “We were grateful to win that. We were a bit lucky. That was separated by a free throw. We were down for the entire game until the last three or four minutes of the game. “

The free throw Cone was referring to was that botched Bobby Ray Parks charity in Game One regulation that allowed Geneva to send the game into overtime on that Arvin Tolentino layup.

“There’s not much to pump your chest and say ‘Wow, we were so much better. Look, we’re up 2-0. ‘ We cannot say that. These games have gone in any direction and that means this series can turn on a dime, “Cone said.

Cone is capable of the firepower TNT can provide with or without Parks, who sat down in the second game due to a calf injury he aggravated in the series opener.

MORE OF SPIN

The Tropang Giga, Cone insisted, still has players like Jayson Castro and RR Pogoy, who can explode at any moment and turn things around for their squad.

“A 2-0 lead means nothing to a team like Talk ‘N Text. Honestly, I really feel that from the bottom of my heart. Once again, the game was separated by a couple of big shots. We made them. They did not. How can we be comfortable in this moment knowing that we played and they practically dominated us both games and yet we were able to win? “Cone said.
