Commercial chief López tests positive for coronavirus

MANILA, Philippines – Commerce Secretary Ramón López announced Wednesday that he tested positive for the new coronavirus (COVID-19).

In a message to reporters, López said he was tested Sunday after being exposed to a person who tested positive. He said the results of his tests were released Monday.

“I am asymptomatic Naman, but I am already in total isolation,” he said.

López is the fourth member of President Rodrigo Duterte’s cabinet to contract the virus after the Secretary of the Interior, Eduardo Ano, the Secretary of Public Works, Mark Villar, and the Secretary of Education, Leonor Briones, who have already recovered.
