Chris Koon, Dwight Ramos’ schoolmate, moves to the Athenaeum

One of the most sought-after fil-foreign prospects has just landed in Ateneo.

Philippine-American guard Chris Koon will transfer from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, to the Ateneo.

Koon, who is only 19 years old, will have to miss a year before being eligible for the UAAP Season 84 tournament. The 6-foot-4 guard will be eligible for five years.

In 2019, Koon was recruited by Cal Poly Pomona after playing four stellar years at Rolling Hills Preparatory.

In high school, the Toranse, California native averaged 16.0 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, leading Rolling Hills Prep to three consecutive CIF Southern Section championships and a CIF state title.

He is a two-time recipient of the John R. Wooden High School Player of the Year award, CIF-SS Division 5AA Player of the Year, Coastal League Most Valuable Player, and Division 5 First Team. MaxPreps All-State.

The entire time he maintained a GPA of 4.5.

Koon, though he wore the red jersey his freshman year at Cal Poly Pomona in 2019.

Dwight Ramos, who also dressed for Cal Poly Pomona during his junior year, played a major role in recruiting.
