The commission described the crime as “gruesome.”

In a statement, CDH spokeswoman Jacqueline de Guia said the incident demonstrated the “omnipresence of violence” and impunity in the country.

“This terrible crime also has security and protection implications for the CDH as an institution, considering that it happened in front of our regional office. . . This act of violence within our complex is deeply concerning, ”said de Guía.

The CDH said it has already launched an investigation.

According to the police report obtained by ABS-CBN News, Ronilo Ramos Obenieta was shot three times in the chest by 3 unidentified assailants around 5:40 am on Sunday.

“[The Zamboanga Police is] still driving [a] follow-up operation and exhaustive investigation for the possible motive for the incident and arrest of the suspect, “the report reads.

He called on the government to address the “continuing atrocities” occurring in the country.
