MANILA, Philippines – Sudan Daniel had become an important part of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3 × 3 and the league is dedicating a special award for those who played the jovial host.
League owner Ronald Mascariñas said the league will honor Daniel through the “play of the SUperman game” that will be given to each dunk made in the 3×3 league.
“We can no longer get his voice back in future games, but starting next season, every dunk made during the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3 × 3 games will be called the ‘game’s SUperman move,'” Mascarinas said in reference to Daniel nickname “Su”.
“His had loot. We saw it two years ago and we loved it. Since then she was the voice of Chooks-to-Go 3 × 3. However, more than her style, we share Su’s faith in routine, in believing in yourself, in giving more than one hundred percent effort and in overcoming always expectations. “
As the voice of the 3 × 3 league, Daniel was the one who generated excitement during the games, a vocal transition from his physical dominance in the NCAA in 2010 when he won MVP, Finals MVP and Defensive Player of the Year.
The 6-foot-7 Californian led San Beda to a perfect 18-0 sweep and ultimately to that season’s title and it was during this time that he was called the SUperman.
“‘Superman was an alien and a normal human being, and that’s what makes him non-ordinary,’ he once said,” Mascariñas joked. “Su believed that not being ordinary like Superman requires 150 percent effort, always exceeding expectations and believing in yourself.”
“Above all, he said, ‘You have to have a loot.’ People may not like it at first, but if you keep it up, they will learn to like it later. He believed. “
Daniel died of an asthma attack on Saturday. He was 33 years old.
