BEIJING: China expresses serious concerns and strong opposition to India’s recent claim to ban more Chinese apps on national security grounds, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said at a press conference on Thursday.
Zhao Lijian said that the Chinese Embassy in India issued a statement in response.
“On four occasions since June, India has imposed restrictions on smartphone applications with a Chinese background under the pretext of national security.
These movements in flagrant violation of market principles and WTO rules seriously harm the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. China firmly rejects them, ”Zhao said.
He said that the Chinese government always asks Chinese companies to observe international rules and local laws and regulations when doing business abroad.
The Indian government has a responsibility to follow market principles and protect the legal rights and interests of international investors, including Chinese companies.
“China-India trade and economic cooperation, by nature, is mutually beneficial. India should immediately correct its discriminatory approach and avoid causing further damage to bilateral cooperation, ”Zhao said.
