Cherie gil

Cherie Gil is best known for her brilliant renditions of “kontrabida” characters. But when she talks about her niece Andi Eigenmann, Cherie goes soft. “Like me, Andi is not afraid,” he says. “She is a risk-taker and a lover of life.”

What do you think about Andi’s commitment to Philmar Alipayo? “I wish I could give you some advice on marriage, but I’m not the best person to do it. Instead, I will wish him everything wonderful in this new union of his life, ”he says. “Obviously Andi is very happy. She has been clear from the beginning about how she wants to see herself in this life. She has it all figured out. She found her niche with her beautiful babies and the man of her dreams. “

Too bad the other important man in Andi’s life is no longer around, her father Ralph (aka Mark Gil), who was a dear friend of mine. I remember when he told me during the time Andi started making waves, “Andi used to be known as ‘anak ni Mark Gil’. But now, I am known more as ‘Andi Eigenmann’s father.’

According to Cherie, she’s sure Ralph is smiling from above when she sees Andi living her “happily ever after.”

Andi Eigenmann

So, I said to Cherie, “If only we could find our perfect match, like Andi has.” She replied, “Nothing is perfect. The only perfection is to be complete with yourself. “I replied:” The line ‘You complete me’ should be changed to ‘You complement me.’

Suddenly our interview turned into a love consultation session. Ah! I could listen to that “woman of substance and grace” Eigenmann all day.

John Clay

John does not sit on his laurels

At last year’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), John Arcilla played a prison superintendent in “Miracle in Cell No.7”. This time, John plays a nice guy (Father Suárez) in the MMFF entry, “Suárez: the healing priest.” Connoisseurs of the entertainment world say he is a candidate for the festival’s best actor award. That bravery Clay never fails.

Here is my talk with John:

What is your best memory of Father Suárez?

It was our first meeting, when he told me stories about his life. What I saw was a very positive person, who was not even affected by the sexual abuse controversy at all. He wasn’t even trying to justify himself or defend himself. He simply entrusted his entire destiny to God and wholeheartedly submitted to the will of the Almighty. This charismatic priest, undoubtedly a proud fan of ‘Heneral Luna’, told me that he personally chose me to interpret it. “

What is your favorite scene and line in the movie?

It was when I, like P. Suárez, was locked up inside a rehabilitation center with drug addicts and criminals. It was an act of disciplinary action through the recommendations of his mentor bishop, and he was praying and crying, asking God why he had to go through that. But I said, “If it’s God’s will, I’ll accept suffering.”

The following actual incident was not used in the film: it is when a cyclone directly hit the rehabilitation center, took off its roof and totally destroyed the facility.

After winning countless awards, what keeps you from sitting on your laurels?

I still want to do a lot of things. I still want to tell many stories. This world still has a lot to talk about about “loving, living and laughing.” Our country is still “young” in many ways… we still need a lot to learn as a nation, and I would like to be able to contribute something to make this world a friendlier place.
