The Boston Celtics have been busy this offseason in the rumor mill. Reports indicated that they were trying to hire Jrue Holiday and had bought Kemba Walker to get picks to make that trade happen. Now, it appears they are making a belated effort to acquire James Harden from the Houston Rockets.
According to a report by Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, the Celtics are making a belated effort to trade Harden. He said the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers are still considered favorites to acquire Harden.
Harden has been pushing the Nets for a trade for the past 48 hours. Many have reported that he is unhappy with the Rockets’ management and that it could have something to do with the team owner’s support for Donald Trump.
No matter what reason Harden wants out, he’s rocked the entire NBA offseason.
If the Celtics could find a way to acquire Harden from the Rockets, they would probably be the favorites in the Eastern Conference. Boston and the Nets would probably be the two best teams in the conference on paper.
Last season with the Rockets, Harden put together another monster year. He averaged 34.3 points, 7.5 assists and 6.6 rebounds. Harden shot 44.4 percent from the ground overall and dropped 35.5 percent of his three-point attempts.
Needless to say, this is something to keep in mind. Danny Ainge is doing everything he can to lead the Celtics to another NBA championship. Harden would be a big step in making that happen.
Expect to hear a lot more about James Harden in the hours and days to come. An exchange may be approaching. The Celtics, Nets and 76ers seem to be the top teams with the possibility of acquiring it and we will make sure we have all the updates you need on this situation.
