MANILA – John Riel Casimero remains the WBO bantamweight champion after knocking out Ghanaian opponent Duke Micah on Sunday (Philippine time) at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

A devastating knockdown in the second round set the tone for Casimero’s dominance before ending the day in the next round.

Micah really had a brilliant moment in Round 1, landing with a right hook that momentarily rocked Casimero.

But in Round 2, Casimero sent Micah down with a left hook before hitting him the rest of the round.

Micah barely survived Round 2 and needed clearance from the ring doctor before referee Steve Willis started Round 3.

A couple of top cuts from Casimero shook Micah so badly that Willis stepped in to prevent further damage.

Casimero went 30-4 in his career with 21 knockouts.

Micah, on the other hand, suffered the first loss of his career after winning his first 24 bouts. (PNA)
