MANILA, Philippines – Incoming international flights will be allowed to land at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila, but will have to continue on assigned days, the Philippine Civil Aviation Authority (CAAP) said Saturday.

“Beginning May 11, incoming and commercial international charter flights landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will have assigned days,” the notice said.

CAAP issued its Notice to Airman (NOTAM) that allows incoming international flights to land on NAIA on Mondays and Thursdays, but must guarantee “authorization from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and CAAP for positioning purposes.”

Incoming international commercial flights are permitted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends, but must obtain CAAP approval 48 hours prior to your scheduled departure from the airport for
“Slots and flight rescheduling required to subscribe to NAIA’s 400 passenger capacity per day.”

The restrictions will apply from May 11 to June 10, CAAP said.

“The restrictions, which will last for a month, from May 11 to June 10, will be implemented only in NAIA, and other international airports in the country will have their restrictions separately,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, emergency flights, ferry flights, cargo flights, air ambulance and medical supply flights, government flights, military, climate mitigation flights, maintenance flights and outbound flights, cargo flights with passengers are not covered by NOTAM restrictions.

To recall, the government suspended incoming international flights landing at NAIA to decongest quarantine facilities in the country from May 2.

Upon entering the country, Filipino migrant workers must perform a mandatory 14-day quarantine as a precaution against the spread of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
