BENGUET State University (BSU) will soon appoint its next president.

After the presentation of the five candidates for the presidency of Benguet State University (BSU), the Official Director in Charge of the BSU and the Director of the Higher Education Commission – Cordillera Administrative Region (Ched-CAR), Dr. Danilo Bose said that the next president will be announced soon.

Bose added that the next president must be willing to do the best he can as many challenges are seen in BSU operations. He must work hand in hand with the community and is willing to take BSU to a greater height.

“For the academic community, put aside your personal interest. Please work hand in hand with all your heart and energy for the next president-elect, for the betterment of BSU, ”he said.

The search committee for the next president of the BSU is chaired by attorney Cinderella Filipina Benitez-Jaro, executive director of Ched Central Office, along with Dr. Cecilia N. Gascon, president of Bulacan State University, PASUC Representative; Dr. Jimmy Catanes, Ched Representative; lawyer Leonardo Lee Lawana, representative of the private sector; and Professor Vicente G. Last week, the five candidates presented their vision, mission and goals during a public forum in the University Gymnasium. Representatives of the BSU students, the BSU administration, the BSU faculty and the BSU Alumni Association were also assigned to ask questions of the candidates.

BSU alumnus and agriculture secretary William Dar said the next president should be someone who is always a leader who has a vision to innovate.

“[Someone] that has some foresight. It’s not your conventional, you can’t do it. He has to challenge himself and the entire university, ”says Dar, who was in Atok, Benguet on Thursday, October 29, 2020, to launch a Farm-to-Market Road project.

Competing for the BSU presidency are Dr. Jimmy Fong, Dr. Serafín Ngohayon, Dr. Joel Lubrica, Dr. Felipe Comila and Dr. Maria Luz Fang-asan.
