Broadcasters train teachers on television as a mode of learning – The Manila Times

The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Saturday that it enlisted the help of veteran broadcasters to train its teachers for its television platform, which will be one of the learning modes when schools open on October 5.

Education Secretary Leonor Briones said among the invited television journalists were former TV5 news anchor and presenter Paolo Bediones as head coach; The head of TV5 news, Luisita “Luchi” Cruz-Valdés, as senior trainer and advisor; Jessica Soho, Arnold Clavio, Kara David, Sandra Aguinaldo and Atom Araullo from GMA7; Korina Sánchez, Karen Dávila, Kim Atienza, Abner Mercado and Jacque Manabat from ABS-CBN; and MJ Marfori, columnist for The Manila Times and TV5 entertainment reporter.

Grooming Coach Issa Litton, Voice Coach Pocholo Gonzales, and Lyqa Maravilla, Online Educational Content Creator and Motivational Speaker, round out the training team.

Briones said the department was “moved by the degree of cooperation, assistance and advice” that the announcers gave the “trainees.”

Undersecretary of Education Alain Pascua said that DepEd was “very fortunate to have decades of combined experience in broadcasting and presentering award-winning broadcast journalists and television and radio personalities from the nation’s largest networks to guide our DepEd TV teacher-announcers “.

DepEd said the Teacher-Speakers training program will equip and empower selected candidates “to be effective presenters on television, as well as enable them to understand the elements of video production by allowing them to discover the roles of becoming associate producers, cameramen, editor, graphic artist and production coordinator ”.

DepEd also said it was now building broadcast-ready studios at its divisional offices across the country, with the goal of producing around 130 episodes of educational material that would cover the main subject areas under the most essential learning competencies.

Pascua said DepEd was finalizing partnerships with Cignal, GSat, Sky Cable, Gracia Telecoms and the League of Philippine Municipalities, Streamtech and Planet Cable, Solar Entertainment, Mabuhay Pilipinas, the Philippines Cable and Telecommunications Association, and GMA7 and “I hope have the signing of agreements for next week ”.

A final test broadcast will take place September 21-25 via IBC-13, Solar Learning, and other associated media for technical adjustments and evaluation of final program content, designs, themes, and templates.

Pascua said that in addition to the DepEd TV service, other learning modes, such as the DepEd Commons online learning portal, will become an effective channel for instruction and education.
