LONDON – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Monday a new national COVID-19 shutdown in England, ordering people to stay home to contain a more contagious variant of the coronavirus.
“Therefore, we must enter a national lockdown, which is tough enough to contain this variant,” Johnson said in a televised speech.
“That means the government is ordering you once again to stay home.”
