Former Liverpool coach Brendan Rodgers has shut down rumors linking Philippe Coutinho with a Leicester City trade.

It has long been rumored that the former Reds player will make his departure from Barcelona this summer, and that his return to England is largely wasted.

Rodgers, who took over as the Foxes’ chief last year, said he was interested in meeting with his former player.

But the Northern Irishman has since explained that the 27-year-old would be out of his price range.

Talking to TV presenter Eamonn Holmes on her podcast Eamonn and the Gaffers, as quoted here, admitted: “I have seen a lot of speculation about young Phil, I don’t think …

“Philippe is a wonderful player, a brilliant talent, but he would be someone who is out of our price range.”

Coutinho is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, but has reportedly failed to convince Bundesliga champions to hire him permanently.
