Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, October 26) – The Blackwater Elite player who previously tested positive for COVID-19 has tested negative on two different types of tests for coronavirus infection, the Philippine Basketball Association said on Monday.
He said the infected player inside the sports bubble underwent an RT-PCR and antigen test on Sunday, which came back negative. However, the anonymous player will remain in quarantine at the Athletes’ Village in Capas, Tarlac as a precaution.
The president of the Base Development and Conversion Authority and the country’s test czar Vince Dizon said the sports bubble has not been compromised despite recording two confirmed cases of COVID-19.
“The PBA bubble remains intact and has not been broken,” he said in a statement.
The entire Blackwater Elite team has been isolated.
It was also recommended to isolate the entire TNT team, which faced Blackwater on October 22. The PBA said that the Blackwater player’s test result will determine whether the TNT and Northport Batang Pier game will take place today.
A referee, who officiated the October 20 game between Blackwater Elite and Alaska Aces, was the first COVID-19 case inside the bubble. The positive result of his test was published on October 20; it already gave negative results in subsequent tests.
