MANILA – BDO Unibank said Wednesday that it was taking steps to upgrade its digital banking channels, as “substantially” higher volume made it inaccessible.

Customers are encouraged to visit branches or use automated teller machines (ATMs) for urgent transactions, the nation’s largest bank said in a notice.

“We apologize for the inaccessibility of our Digital Banking channels and the inconvenience it has caused, especially during this payment period,” said BDO.

“The bank has been experiencing increasing volume of use on our digital channels and has taken steps to adjust it. Today’s volume has been substantially higher than normal highs. We have already taken steps to upgrade to a new platform for digital banking. Please bear with us as we prepare for the migration to the new platform, “he added.

BDO previously issued another notice urging users to update their digital banking application, which is now “fully compatible” with the latest iPhone operating system.
