Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, November 27) – Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino was granted a new four-year term to head the Philippine Olympic Committee after winning the sports body’s elections.
Tolentino, who also runs cycling, beat goalkeeper Clint Aranas, 30-22, in Friday’s vote in the city of Parañaque.
Stephen Hontiveros, of handball, retained his position as president, while Al Panlilio of basketball and Richard Gómez of fencing were elected as first and second vice president, respectively.
Meanwhile, Cynthia Carrion from gymnastics was elected treasurer and Chito Loyzaga from baseball as auditor.
Dr. Raul Canlas from surfing, Pearl Managuelod from muay thai, Charlie Ho from netball and David Carter from judo were elected as board members.
A total of 53 votes were cast, including the representative of the Philippines on the International Olympic Committee, Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski, and the representative of the Athletes Commission, Hidilyn Diaz.
