On Tuesday night, Anthony Davis received his first championship ring. He didn’t have the full experience of the championship ring ceremony due to the fact that fans are not allowed at the Staples Center yet, but he got his ring, and for him, that was enough.
“It’s something we cherish forever,” Davis said. “I don’t understand how some guys, there are reports that they sell their rings and things like that. I can not see that. It has a lot of value to me as a basketball player. Is an achievement. Everybody doesn’t have one of these and I can tell I have one. I’m going to put it in a safe place ”.
Yet as grateful as Davis is to have a championship ring, he doesn’t want to stay there. For him, Tuesday was just the beginning.
“All season long, I can look at that ring and remind myself of what we’ve done, what I’ve done, and you have this feeling of, ‘I want another.’ Bron told me that when Jeanie and Adam were talking … he was saying something to me and I wasn’t even paying attention, but I could see in his eyes that he wanted another. I was telling QC.
“It just makes you want to get another one of those and relive that feeling again.”
The good news for Davis is that as long as he and LeBron James are in Los Angeles, the Lakers will be a championship-contending team. And if they can go all the way this season, maybe Davis can finally have a proper championship celebration next summer; with fans, parade and everything.
