Anthony Davis is having a moment with the Lakers

It took Anthony Davis eight years to reach the NBA Finals, but it was worth the wait for both him and the fans who watched him at home.

In Game 1, Davis scored 34 points on an efficient 11-21 shooting from the field, including 2-4 shooting from behind the arc. His 34 points are tied for the third-most points scored by a Lakers player in his Finals debut. He also became the first Lakers player to score more than 30 points in a Finals appearance since Kobe Bryant scored 38 points in Game 5 of the 2010 Finals.

For the playoffs, Davis averaged 29.1 points per game with 56.7% shooting from the field, in addition to 9.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.3 blocks per game. Here’s the list of players who have equaled those averages in the postseason this year:

  1. Anthony Davis

That’s because only a few players have done what Davis has done this postseason. On today’s episode of “Can U Dig It?” Christian and Jacob talk about how important Davis has been to the Lakers’ success and how he set the tone for the showdown with the Miami Heat in Game 1.

They also spoke about the narratives that have surrounded the Lakers throughout their playoff career, including the argument that their title will have an asterisk next to it. Spoiler alert: they are dumb.
