ONE Atomweight world champion Angela Lee lit up social media Thursday morning, launching a series of tweets directed at Denice Zamboanga.

This comes a day after the 23-year-old Filipina said that Lee should drop the belt as she will not be able to defend it as she is pregnant.

“Sorry girl, but you didn’t do anything to deserve my belt. No one took it from me, so why would I give it up? read the tweet from the 24-year-old Singaporean.

“Let’s see if you win the atomweight Grand Prix belt and then maybe you can start making decisions.”

Lee is the only atomweight champion in ONE Championship.

After dominating her first five professional fights, Lee would defeat Mei Yamaguchi to be hailed as the inaugural atomweight champion on May 6, 2016.

She would pass Jenny Huang, Istela Nunes and Yamaguchi again before attempting to become a two-division world champion.

Lee would suffer two consecutive setbacks in the strawweight division before breaking his drift by stopping Xiong Jingnan in a tilt for the atomweight championship on October 13, 2019.

“I am the first ONE female champion and I have been a champion since 2016. I will not give up on this,”Another tweet from Lee’s read.

“As for Denice, I know she’s a great up-and-coming fighter, but I’m sorry, girl, you don’t get a free belt just like that. You have to earn it “.

Zamboanga, who is the top contender in the stacked atomweight division, called for Lee to drop the belt as she will not be able to defend it for at least a year.

“He shouldn’t resist vacating the championship belt as he can’t defend it,” Zamboanga said.

Lee, on the other hand, promised to return.

“I will be back in 2021.”
