Kai sotto, a 7’2 ″ center from the Philippines, is one of the prospects to be a part of G League Ignite’s new select team, quitting college for the new NBAGL career path. Sotto spoke with Ajayi Browne of NetsDaily about his decision and the adjustments he will have to make after growing up in the Philippines.
“My challenge here in the United States is how they play”, Sotto told Browne. “Being an international player from Asia, they don’t give you respect right away, you have to earn it. They really have great players here. Every time I play I have to earn everyone’s respect and play the best I can.
“For an 18-year-old player who comes straight from high school and plays in the G league, it’s really important to me, for a player like me. I know that I’m going to play against great players, stronger players, and faster players, so I’m just trying to prepare to be better. That will be the best way to improve to play against players like them, to be surrounded by an incredible coaching staff and incredible teammates. I can not wait “.
Like the 2020/21 NBA season, next year’s G League season is still on the air. But whenever that happens, Sotto will be part of an Ignite squad that also has guards. Jalen green and Daishen Nixas well as forward Jonathan Kuminga and Isaiah Todd.
