Alex Eala rises to No.2 in ITF Women’s Youth World Ranking

(CNN Philippines, October 12) – Alex Eala rose to number two in the women’s youth world ranking released by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) on Monday.

The Filipino tennis ace rose from number four after a strong performance at the 2020 French Open. He said goodbye to eventual champion Elsa Jacquemot of France in the semi-finals.

Jacquemot’s Grand Slam victory catapulted her from number six to number one, dethroning Victoria Jiménez Kasinteva of Andorra, who fell to number three after a second-round outing at the French Open.

Eala, 15, is the only Asian to make the top 10, which includes players from Ukraine, Russia, the United States, Germany and Belarus.

The next Filipino player behind Eala is Jenalla Rose Prulla, who is at number 733.

Meanwhile, Eala’s brother Miko improved three points in the boys ranking. It is now at number 147.
