Alex Eala rises to junior world No. 2 after great French Open career

AFTER a promising semi-final in the individual women’s French Open tournament, Alex Eala rose to world No. 2 in the International Tennis Federation youth world rankings.

From fourth place, the 15-year-old Filipina climbed two spots and edged out three players, including former world No. 1 Victoria Kasintseva of Andorra, former world No. 2 and 3, Diane Parry of France and Daria Snigur of Ukraine.

Elsa Jacquemot, the semi-final torturer from Eala who eventually took the Grand Slam title, was named the new World No. 1.

He scored a total of 430 points in his stint at the French Open, increasing his points from 1718.75 to 2148.75.
