The Department of Tourism (DOT) 7 has published the new normal health and safety guidelines for island and beach destinations under modified general community

quarantine (MGCQ).

Pre-booking will now be required for guests who intend to stay at least one night on the island or on the beach. Walk-ins will not be allowed. These new guidelines are in accordance with Circular Memo 2020-007 issued by DOT on Monday, September 7, 2020.

The DOT said guests must be screened at the port of entry. They will go through the mandatory body temperature control and must complete the Health Declaration Form (HDF) through a mobile application or other contactless means before boarding any transport service to the destination island or beach.

Only guests who have been authorized during the temperature control and have achieved the HDF will be allowed in. Those with a fever and flu-like symptoms will be referred to the doctor on call, the nearest hospital, or the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team according to the protocol prescribed by the Health Department.

Names of guests with confirmed reservations must be available at ports of entry.

Guests without confirmed reservations will be allowed entry only if they are part of a one-day activity or can present a one-way or return ticket scheduled for the same day.

A “No Mask, No Ticket” policy will also be strictly enforced.

Rules

Guests are also reminded to respect physical distancing at all times. DOT suggests practicing the “Mabuhay Gesture” to greet and greet guests upon arrival on the island.

Other forms of contactless greeting are also recommended.

All staff caring for guests must use appropriate personal protective equipment, such as masks and / or face shields. Staff assisting guests who require physical contact, such as carrying luggage, should also wear gloves and take precautionary measures, including frequent hand washing.

To properly monitor guests entering and leaving island destinations, strategic entry and exit points must be provided in coordination with local authorities.

Public beaches should have reminder signs installed in strategic locations visible to all guests. Local government units may designate beach marshals to ensure that guests observe physical distancing at all times. The use of floor markers, flags, lines or other devices is strongly recommended.

In addition, under the new guidelines, concessions, shops, street vendors, street vendors, and the sale of food are strictly prohibited. Chairs, canopies, grills and other temporary auxiliary structures are not allowed on the beach.

DOT also recalled that mass gatherings and group events, such as sports competitions, youth camps, and other beach activities, must comply with the relevant provisions of national and local government units.

Meanwhile, public toilets must meet the requirements and qualifications prescribed by the Public Toilet Standards of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and must be operational at all times.
