SINGAPORE – Actress Jeanette Aw, whose popular WTF (What The Fudge) Brownies has a waiting list of about 1,000 people since her last cake sales in 2020, will open her own bakery around “April or May.”
According to 8days.sg, the actress is keeping her store location secret to avoid interference with renovations. The bakery will offer a “rotating menu of desserts, cakes and pastries,” depending on what inspires Aw at this time.
“I won’t be able to tell you right now what I’m offering; it’s more about what inspires me then. I would like to continue to be exciting for the clients and myself, ”Aw shares.
After completing his pastry course at Le Cordon Bleu Tokyo in December 2019, Aw began receiving requests for baked goods from friends, fans, and followers.
Initially, the actress began baking only for private orders and during her free time. He then decided to hold public cake sales after more and more people started asking about his baked goods.
The well-received WTF Brownies sold for S $ 58 for a box of 16 brownies, and Aw has continued to fill orders since last September. “I’m not sure when I’ll bring it (WTF Brownies), but it’s about time I switched to new recipes,” she says.
Aw also let her know that instead of being just a boss in name, she will be in the store baking the cakes herself while building her bakers team. Aw’s pastry shop will focus on take-out, delivery, and online ordering rather than a cafe where people can sit and chat about baked goods.
When asked why she wouldn’t keep it as a home baking business, the 41-year-old said that “a house is a place to rest, it shouldn’t be full of baking ingredients and boxes. I even had to order new racks and shelves to store everything properly, and I don’t like that at home. “
