Abueva heading to the bubble? Coach Topex Taunts Fans With Instagram Post

The return of “The Beast”? Coach Topex Robinson taunts fans with an Instagram post.

Phoenix Super LPG interim coach Topex Robinson piqued the appetite of PBA fans demanding the reinstatement of Calvin Abueva with a social media post Tuesday.

Robinson posted a photo on Instagram of him and Abueva with a caption that said they were heading north.

“Heading north,” Robinson said, an obvious reference to the PBA bubble in Clark, Pampanga.

Abueva also increased the excitement by posting a selfie while wearing a white Phoenix Super LPG polo shirt.

“Waiting for the signal,” said Abueva, who had met PBA commissioner Willie Marcial’s conditions since he was given an indefinite suspension in June 2019.

Their Instagram photos came after the two met with the Commissioner of the Board of Games and Amusement, Eduard Trinidad, at the government regulatory body for the office of professional sports in the city of Makati.

Marcial did not commit when fans asked him to bring in the man they call “The Beast” ahead of the PBA season resume on October 11.

“As I said, this is for the good of Calvin, for the good of the PBA and for the good of everything we do,” said Marcial, who appeared virtually in Tuesday’s PBA press bubble chaired by the director of BCDA, Vince Dizon and CDC Director Noel Manankil.

Fans expressed their displeasure after the PBA deauthorized Abueva from the Phoenix roster during last Friday’s deadline for teams to present their 25-man lineup using #LetCalvinPlay.

“If you are angry with me, first forgive me. This is for the good of all, ”said Marcial.
